It is with deep sadness and a deep sense of loss, yet gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Donald Cameron MacLean, 95, of Churchville, formerly of Springville and Bridgeville.
Donnie was born in Springville on May 28, 1928, the eldest son of Robert and Ada MacLean. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jean in 1940.
Donnie and Evelyn owned a farm in Springville. He was the fifth generation of MacLeans to settle in Springville and they farmed on the land where he was born. Donnie was also a machine operator at the Trenton Machine shop for thirty years.
He was a long-time active member of Bridgeville United Church and a member of Union Lodge in Springville for 72 years.
Donnie is survived by his wife and best friend Evelyn (Reid). They were one month shy of their 71st birthday; children are Arlene (John MacGregor), Churchville, Jim (Margie), Bedford & Edna (Robert Langille), Scotsburn. He has eight grandchildren Robbie (Mary), Donnie (Kathryn), Bradley (Myrianne), Karen, Jessica (Suvir) & Allison (Grayson) and Helen (Chris) & Heather (Saga). He also has eight great-grandchildren. He has one brother David (Catherine) in New Glasgow.
Visitation will be held at Angus Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2-4, 6-8. A private funeral service will take place.
In honor of Donnie’s memory, an act of kindness would always be welcome.
